Lifetime of

Passion and Commitment

Sarah founded Lokenvitz Design & Woodworking in July 2022. She wanted to bring her knowledge and passion of wood into designing beautiful, functional spaces. Lokenvitz is derived from her maiden name to emphasize the family atmosphere that she wants to provide to her clients. She likes to joke that wood is in her DNA and sawdust in her veins.

Sarah received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Emphasis in Woodworking) from Iowa State University and is a Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer through the National Kitchen and Bath Association. With her educational background, Sarah brings a technical interpretation to each design to ensure that the space will function for each individual client, while having the knowledge of materials and finishes to create elegant spaces no matter the style.

Growing up as the daughter of a master carpenter and farmer, Sarah grew up learning to work with her hands. This has given her a unique advantage and passion into understanding how everything fits together. Her passion grew from building functional and decorative items for 4-H projects and almost anything needed around the farm.

Sarah has been published several times, speaks yearly at local industry shows, guest lectures at local universities, has taught classes at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, has been a judge for multiple design competitions at state and national levels, has sat as a board member for her local NKBA chapter (including President), and was chosen as a member of the NKBA Thirty under 30 Class of 2020.

She is a proud member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, Madrid Area Chamber and NKBA Thirty under 30 legacy.

Sarah lives in Madrid, IA with her husband Eric, two daughters Aurora and Kinsley, and two dogs Jack and Winter. She can usually be found in the shop building anything from wood, in the dance studio with her girls, or at the pasture spending time with her horse, Coco.

The mother has glasses, shoulder-length brown hair, and wears a blue zip-up sweater. The two young girls are wearing dresses: the older girl in a white, sparkly dress with a tulle skirt, and the younger girl in a red and white striped dress. All are smiling and standing close together.
